Nurse and Patient Navigators
A helping hand when you need it.
Sometimes you have a question during your cancer journey that you might not want to ask a doctor. At Capital Health, those questions can often be answered by one of the nurse, patient, or financial navigators on your multidisciplinary care team.
A nurse navigator is here to help make your life easier as you undergo cancer treatment.
They are responsible for coordinating care with each member of your multidisciplinary team, including scheduling pre- and post-surgery care, and ensuring that you’re provided the proper education along your cancer journey.
Additionally, your nurse navigator is here to assess medical care and resources, to make sure you know everything you need to know as you go through treatment. They will be there to give you and your family emotional support when/if necessary, and to help you coordinate with our on-site support groups if you wish to do so.
Our patient navigators here at Capital Health provide non-medical assistance to our oncology patients and their families.
This includes using their extensive network of relationships with healthcare providers, support services and local organizations to assist you in areas outside of our wheelhouse. The patient navigator can also provide you with educational information on the different forms and stages of cancer as you move from diagnosis through treatment and survivorship.
Our financial navigator works with cancer patients and families to address financial concerns so they can focus on their treatment regimen and well-being.
During your consultation, our financial navigator will use their expertise to help you understand your insurance benefits, estimated out-of-pocket expenses, and qualifications for programs and resources that might be available to you.
