Most of these classes and programs are held at the Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell and some are offered via Zoom.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is self-paced system of exercise that promotes gentle physical movement and stretching. Originating in China, Tai Chi is used to help one embrace the mind, body, and spirit.

This ancient form of martial art combines deep breathing and relaxed, flowing movements to help the user find inner peace, comfort, and serenity with themselves and their surroundings. When learned correctly and practiced regularly, it is a positive force that can be used to improve your overall health, including:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Enhanced immune system
  • Improved joint function
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Increased flexibility and balance

Wellness Retreats

Each quarter we hold two-hour retreats that will take the patient through an opening meditation, slow-flow yoga combined with breathing techniques to reduce stress and tension, led by a Capital Health yoga therapist. The patients will also enjoy a healthy cooking demonstration led by a Capital Health Cancer Center registered dietitian and certified specialist in oncology nutrition. The retreat wraps up with a restorative yoga segment to bring complete relaxation to our patients.

Daisy Makeover Program

While undergoing cancer treatment, some patients may experience hair loss or other appearance changes due to the medication prescribed by their doctor. This change in appearance can affect your overall confidence and make cancer treatment feel even more frustrating than it already is.

At Capital Health, our Daisy Makeover Program employs personalized, professional makeover artists to help enhance your natural beauty in a fun and informative setting. These licensed cosmetologists provide patients with safety tips on product ingredients, as well as beauty care advice that you can take home with you.

From choosing scarves and hats, to make-up application, to the do’s and don’ts about certain beauty products, this program helps patients feel more comfortable in their own skin than ever before.

If you wish you attend, you can register by calling us at 609.537.6536, or by emailing lrickey@capitalhealth.org.
